Founded in 1942 by pioneering Egyptian industrialist, Ibrahim Abdel Hafiz, the Nile Co. has built its reputation on the quality of its products and unique manufacturing techniques, radically transforming the handmade tile industry in Egypt. One year after its inception, the Nile Co. opened its first cement tile factory in Abbasiyya—the first of its kind in Egypt.
With a production capacity of over 4,000 sq.m. per day, the Nile Co. moved forward with their innovative machinery, Italian techniques and expressive designs to revolutionize the local market and later participate in some of Egypt’s most iconic public and private projects including the Alexandria corniche, Cairo Opera House, the Cairo Metro (1st, 2nd and 3rd lines), Heliopolis and Gezira Sporting Clubs, and the Mena House. Today, the Nile Co. is experiencing a revamp in their brand, having hired Tandem—a boutique design agency in Maadi—to makeover their identity, and Soraya Hassan—of interior design blog Binti Home—to style and photograph products for their new catalogs. In addition, the Nile Co.’s Zamalek showroom is now open and features all tile collections on display.
From Handmade cement tiles, double layer and single layer Terrazzo tiles, decorative Outdoor and Pavement tiles, and natural Quartzite stone tiles for indoor and outdoor use, the Nile Co. designs tiles for every use and all interior design styles. Building on decades-long relationships across diverse sectors, the Nile Co. continues to supply developers, corporations, institutions, architects and customers with their authentic Egyptian tiles, both at home and throughout the region. Tamara Restaurant & Cafe, Zooba, Cairo Marriott (Zamalek), Sequia and Westown Hub to name a few, are current Nile Co. projects that remain true to the values that established the company 75 years ago—excellence, innovative, experienced, and made in Egypt.
The Nile Co.’s Zamalek showroom is located at 6, Salah El Din St., +(202) 2735 2456, +(2) 0100 6880188. Hours are 10 AM – 8 PM, closed on Friday.
