Film My Design is a platform that showcases the design process through Film. It aims to establish a creative community of Egyptian designers and filmmakers, who collaborate to produce Design-Film documentaries. The filmmaker documents the design process of the designer as the latter works their way through concept, design and production. The first edition of the FMD event will celebrate the final projects through a film screening and an exhibition in November 2018.

fmd. co-founders Farah El-Rafei, Israa M. Ibrahim and Nada Ahmed Salem graduated from the American University of Sharjah with degrees in Design. After graduation, they’ve been active in the United Arab Emirates and Italian design scenes in the fields of Exhibition Management, Interior Design and Product Design. They’ve noticed how empowered the design community is in the UAE and Italy. When they looked at the design scene in Egypt, even though there exists a diverse pool of talented designers, the design community is not as dominant and well promoted both locally and internationally. And so, in November 2016, they decided to join forces and establish Film My Design to endorse the Egyptian creative scene.
